Members of the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band performed last Saturday at the San Antonio Alamodome.
Drum Corps International strategic partner NAfME (the National Association for Music Education) will be accepting nominations for membership in the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band until the end of this month.
The All-American Marching Band is one of the premier high school marching groups, made up of elite high school seniors from across the country. Members are selected to come together at the beginning of January to perform as the halftime entertainment at the annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
More than 1,200 were nominated for membership in the band in 2012, and 125 were ultimately selected for the experience.
Drum Corps International has been a proud sponsor of this group since its debut in 2008. In its five years of existence, some of drum corps’ finest staff and corps members have been a part of the group. More than a dozen of the 2012 senior band members had previous drum corps experience with a number of DCI’s World and Open Class units.
High school seniors during the 2012-2013 school year are eligible to apply for the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. A deadline for nominations that must be completed by the student’s band director is quickly approaching at the end of January, 2012.
Band members chosen to take part in the All-American experience will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to San Antonio. In only a matter of days, the marching ensemble learns and perfects a six-minute production for the All-American Bowl halftime show.
