DC-eye: Front line firsts

Thom Watson submitted this photo and caption.

Last summer my sister Peggy and I went to the DCI show in Glendale, Ariz. I took this picture of her with the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum Major Stephanie Lee. The interesting point is that while Stephanie is the first female drum major for SCV, my sister Peggy was the first female in SCV that was not in the color guard. In 1983, Peggy held the distinction of being the first EVER female musician for SCV, as a member of the percussion section, playing in the front ensemble. Peggy and I loved the show and were quite impressed with Miss Lee!
