After wrapping up their first round of auditions, the Boston Crusaders are looking forward to their upcoming December rehearsal. "We're expecting around 200 [prospective members] at the December camp. December is when everyone [brass and percussion] comes together for the first time from the remote auditions, so you start to get a real feel for what the corps will be like come summer,” Executive Director Tom Spataro said.
Youth Education in the Arts, parent organization of the Cadets, is looking to hire a full-time director of development. According to the posted job description, this person will manage major donor relationships, alumni relations, direct mail and annual campaigns, as well as web and e-mail based fundraising and fundraising events for the organization. The position is available now and interviews with chosen candidates will be conducted Dec. 19-22. YEA.org

John Howell joins the Colts as marching caption head. "Kevin (Nix, drill designer) and John have worked together on other projects so this provides us with a great synergy between the visual designers and the implementers of the designed product," Colts Program Coordinator Chris Tomsa said.
Crossmen have teamed up with Contempo Leadership to host a Drum Major eXperience Camp Jan. 27-29 in San Antonio, Texas. The three-day session will include classes in conducting, leadership skills and rehearsal techniques.Crossmen.org

Sixth-year Mandarins member Chris Langton was recently presented the Outstanding Corps Member of 2011 award. Chosen by his fellow corps members, the award recognizes the Mandarins member who shows “great leadership, dedication, character and citizenship.”

Santa Clara Vanguard will host its second TEAM SCV meeting on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Vanguard Hall in Santa Clara, Calif.

Vanguard Cadets welcome Peter Gomez to the corps’ design staff. Gomez will serve as visual coordinator and color guard caption head.
Spirit of Atlanta
Spirit of Atlanta’s color guard staff will return for its third year under the direction of caption head Jude Boughton. “Jude and his team have incredible vision for our guard program and have proven themselves as valuable assets to our staff,” Director of Education and Programming Mark Waymire said.
Troopers’ 2012 production “This Was the Future” will “take the form of vaudevillian theatre, incorporating the vision of HG Wells and Jules Verne, the spirit of silent movies, and the ingenuity and thrill of a world’s fair.”
