What is a drum and bugle corps?
A drum and bugle corps performance is an intense, competitive choreographed musical experience staged on a football field by students achieving high levels of excellence. Drum and bugle corps utilize only brass and percussion instruments supported by dance and movement utilizing flags and other props. Drum and bugle corps members range in age from 14 to 22 years old. |

What kind of music do they play, is it all marches?
The variety of styles that are performed at a Drum Corps International event is as diverse as music itself. Over the course of the evening you’re likely to hear pop, jazz, swing, classical music, show tunes, symphonic and yes, even marches. |

What is the Summer Music Games Tour?
Drum Corps International produces a series of more that 130 competitive musical events over 8 weeks from June through August. Most events take place in area high school and midsize college stadiums. Larger events including the Drum Corps International World Championship take place in larger college and NFL stadiums. |

How many groups participate in a Drum Corps International event?
The number of corps varies depending on the event, but a typical tour event includes six to eight corps. Larger regional events might include 10-14 corps while the World Championship events could include more than 20 corps in a single event. |

How long does each corps perform and do they perform different shows each night?
Most corps performances run between 10 and 11 minutes. While the same show is used throughout the season, corps performances evolve from night to night. While the tunes and visual programs remain the same, it is fair to say that it is in fact different each night. |
