World Championships Volunteers



World Championships Day-of-Event Volunteers

Don’t miss your opportunity to be a part of Drum Corps International’s World Championships in Indianapolis! More than 5,000 dynamic and talented high school and college-age performers will come to Indianapolis for the Drum Corps International 2009 World Championships, August 5-8, 2009. The Individual and Ensemble Competition will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. The Open and World Class Drum Corps Competitions will take place Aug. 6-8 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. We are seeking numerous hard working and enthusiastic individuals to lend their time, talent and knowledge to this international event.


Key Volunteer Information

AGE REQUIREMENT: All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS: Volunteer opportunities range from event logistics support to hosting and hospitality for corps staying in the community. Certain positions may require some physical strength, constant activity during a shift, and/or standing for periods of time.

TRAINING: All volunteers will participate in a brief training session designed to familiarize each individual on all planned activities. Volunteers will be briefed on basic skills, specific responsibilities and given an overview of event locations.

BENEFITS:
  • Some, but not all positions, put you near or with a view of the corps performances or corps warm up sites.
  • All volunteers will be provided with an exclusive World Championships event volunteer T-shirt.
  • Some shifts include a complimentary meal.
  • Volunteers will receive a wristband that is valid for access to the events at that location for the entire day.

Local Committee Members and Committee Leadership

Local Committees are formed each year through MusicCrossroads to assist Drum Corps International with the planning of the World Championships events in Indianapolis. Currently there are five committees that make up the Advance Resource Team (ART):

  • Fan Experience

Event Staff for Premier Events

For the majority of the Premier Events that Drum Corps International hosts each year, local volunteers and DCI event staff members are brought in to assist with the show coordination. DCI is always interested in others that are offering to volunteer. We may have an opening in your area. If you are interested, please send an email with the following information to volunteer@dci.org: Home address, primary activities you would be able to assist with and the amount of time you would have available during the months of June, July and August. Also, any other information such as formal education, training (CPR, etc.) would be helpful. Scheduling for these positions typically takes place in January or February of each year.
