7th Regiment

7th Regiment participated in the Mystic (Conn.) Irish Parade last weekend. The corps was presented with an award for “Best Youth Group” by the parade committee.
The Academy

The Academy

Proceeds from the Mariposa Foundation’s annual Red, White, and Blue Classic Golf Tournament will benefit the Academy. The event will take place on April 9 at the Hillcrest Golf Course in Sun City West, Ariz.
Blue Stars

Blue Stars

This June the Blue Stars will make a performance at La Crosse, Wis.’s Freedom Fest. Part motorcycle caravan, part concert series, and part air show hosted in honor of military personnel and veterans, the corps will perform on Saturday, June 19 on the campus of the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse.
The Cadets

The Cadets

Cadets alumni are invited to a special gathering on Tuesday, April 6 in Garfield, N.J., for dinner, socializing and a sneak video preview of the corps taped at its March rehearsal camp. In addition to the April 6 event, Cadets director George Hopkins says, “We’ve got great things happening on May 4 and Memorial Day weekend, too. Coming off an extraordinary 75th Anniversary season that engaged alumni of all ages, we plan to keep that energy and passion alive.”

The Cavaliers

The Cavaliers were recently in action for their March rehearsal camp in Rosemont, Ill. “This camp was extremely successful,” said 2010 drum major Brandon Cave. “The percussion and brass sections both had tremendous rehearsals, learning more of the show music and further defining technique.”

The Glassmen are working with Leadership Toledo to host the Monte Carlo Card Party on May 1 in Toledo, Ohio. Proceeds from the event will benefit both organizations.

Jersey Surf

Embarking on the 20th anniversary of the corps’ founding, the Jersey Surf will perform a show titled “Living the Dream” in 2010. The program will present “patriotic themes in both traditional and playfully unique interpretations,” drawing from works by Charles Ives, Samuel Ward and Dudley Buck.

Madison Scouts

The Madison Scouts are taking reservations for their fifth annual golf fundraiser. Happening on Saturday, June 26 in Middleton, Wis., this year’s event will honor alum Tracy Newnam who recently passed away from cancer.

Twenty-five dollars will get you dinner, entertainment and an auction as part of the Oregon Crusaders’ latest fundraiser on May 6 in Wilsonville, Ore.

Seven Pacific Crest member were recently awarded $250 scholarships from the Eugene Rothstein Memorial Fund. The scholarships “help members who have financial need and who can articulate the life-enriching lessons they hope to learn from the Pacific Crest experience.”

Vanguard fans can head out to the corps’ California headquarters this Sunday, March 28, for the organization’s 43rd birthday celebration. This annual event brings fans, family and alumni together for a spaghetti dinner and entertainment including the debut performances of the Santa Clara Vanguard and Vanguard Cadets.

Spirit is looking to fill a few summer internship positions. While working with staff and management during the 2010 DCI Tour, the corps says that “this is a great experience for future band directors seeking to learn more about logistics, organization and management.”
