Following their performance in Kalamazoo, Mich. on Saturday, June 30, Cascades’ color guard captain Katy Burns, 17, and saber captain, Stacey Armstrong, 16, talked with DCI.org’s Christina Mavroudis about their unique family drum corps connections that started many years ago. Katy’s mother is Mary Doolittle, legendary guard captain of the Seattle Imperials.

“[Drum corps] feels like home,” says Armstrong. “It’s always been part of our lives.”

The two best friends are in their third year with the Cascades, and are looking forward to a great season.
