The 2004 DCI World Championships took place
at Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver.
It has been nearly six years since drum corps fans last watched Drum Corps International on PBS. Wednesday, June 9 at 7 p.m. CT, Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) will re-broadcast the 2004 DCI World Championships as part of their annual membership pledge drive. Only airing to those in the Twin Cities PBS market, the broadcast was put together to help promote Drum Corps International's brand new DCI Minnesota Premier Event coming to TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Saturday, July 17. Brent Turner, founder of the Apple Valley, Minn.-based Youth in Music organization, has been serving as chair of the local organizing committee for DCI Minnesota. He says that this re-broadcast has been made possible thanks to the support of several individuals through the PBS station who "really dig drum corps." Lining up with the network's pledge drive, as thank you gifts for donations, PBS supporters will have access to tickets to the DCI Minnesota event and the June 27 Drum Beauty show in Stillwater, Minn., as well as other DCI-related items like DVDs. TPT will air the 2004 World Championships on three different nights starting with the first Wednesday, June 9 at 7 p.m. CT on TPT-2. For night owls, it airs again on Friday, June 11 at 2 a.m., with a third showing on Saturday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. on TPT-LIFE. DCI Minnesota will be one of the biggest events on the 2010 Drum Corps International Tour, featuring an incredible lineup of 23 groups, including 14 World Class, three Open Class, and two local All-Age corps. For Turner who has spent the better part of a year helping to organize the event, July 17 can't get here soon enough. "Preparations are looking great: Ticket sales are doing very well, suite sales are doing awesome, housing sites for the corps are almost all determined … This is going to be one of the best events of the summer. Everybody's excited." Check the schedule for the re-broadcast of the 2004 World Championship at TPT.org. Learn more about the DCI Minnesota event.
