2008 DCI rules change proposals

Ten rules change proposals will be considered at the Drum Corps International Annual Meeting and Conference Weekend from Jan. 24-27 in Orlando, Fla. Instructors and corps directors during a series of caucus sessions will deliberate on these proposals according to a series of considerations including educational, creative, logistical and fiscal impacts. Those proposals that make it through the caucus sessions will be passed through to the DCI Board of Directors who will vote for a final decision.

This year’s proposed rules cover several topics including adjusting corps membership age restrictions, extending a corps’ allotted performance time, modifying certain judging positions, and contrasting rules calling for the additional use of or prohibited use of electronic instruments.

In the coming weeks, look for additional DCI.org articles analyzing each of this year’s proposed rules leading up to the DCI Annual Meeting and Conference Weekend.
