As the entire drum corps community looks ahead to the New Year and the summer of 2010, this week, Drum Corps International recaps some of the highlights of 2009, today with the most watched videos on DCI.org and the DCI Fan Network. The following five clips garnered the most plays during the 2009 calendar year: 1. Welcome to the DCI Fan Network
At the beginning of May, Drum Corps International and the World Class corps announced the return and expansion of the Fan Network, DCI's online media platform. This video previewed all of the features in store for the new season. Thanks to the continued popularity of drum corps-related multimedia content, in 2009 viewers played videos on the Fan Network and DCI.org more than 1.8 million times which accounted for a whopping 39.5 million megabytes of data!
2. Indy Preview
Originally aired as part of DCI's spring cinema event, "The Countdown," this feature hosted by former Phantom Regiment drum major Will Pitts, gave fans a look at all that Indianapolis has to offer prior to their pilgrimages to the Circle City for the '09 World Championships.
3. "The Countdown" Movie Trailer
On May 13, drum corps fans had the opportunity to gather at a record 400 movie theaters across the country to watch DCI's annual spring cinema event, "The Countdown." This movie trailer previewed the event on DCI.org in addition to playing as part of pre-release screenings in movie theaters across the nation.
4. Blue Devils take '09 World Championship
This video accompanied a DCI.org news article highlighting the results of the World Class World Championship Finals on Aug. 8. Featuring an interview with Blue Devils director David Gibbs, the clip captured the performers "in the moment" as they celebrated their undefeated season and World Championship title.
5. 2009 DCI World Championships DVD Trailer
Coinciding with the Thanksgiving holiday, DCI debuted its 2009 World Championship DVD products with this trailer. Featuring the top World and Open Class corps in three volumes, the '09 DVDs capture all of the excitement as it happened during Drum Corps International's inaugural World Championships held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
