From a Drum Corps Europe press release: In only six days, registration for the 2005 Drum Corps Europe Championships has reached the maximum number of 26 participating corps. Six European countries will be present at the European Championships, to be held on Sept. 24, 2005. The DCE Championships will feature corps from the United Kingdom,
Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, France and Belgium. Drum Corps Europe chairman Marcel Matthijsse is pleased with the popularity of the competition. "We hardly can believe what's going on here. We will have such great corps on the field next year, it's wonderful to see the enthusiasm of all groups," Matthijsse said. Besides the well-known corps that have entered the DCE competition before, several new corps have registered as well for the championships, including Cadence (UK), Pride of Bristol (UK), The Forgemen (UK), Stormarn Magic (Germany), DrumSpirit (Belgium), Jong-Holland (Netherlands) and the Showband Kids (Netherlands). After two very successful "outdoor" seasons (DCE started with two indoor seasons in 2001 and 2002), Drum Corps Europe is still growing. Next year, the European drum corps organization will run three regional contests in the Netherlands and Belgium (May 28, June 25, Sept. 3), concluded by the DCE European Championships (September 24). The regional contest in the Belgian city of Courtrai will have a special guest entering the competition: The Blue Devils. Corps marching in the 2005 DCE Championships: Cadence (UK, Open Class)
