Ed Jones, of Staten Island N.Y., who never marched but has been a drum corps fan since 1973, offered up some observations on "The Legacy Collection" DVD set. Although he's watched only one or two corps from each year ("Hey I've got 72 corps to watch!"), he did forward some preliminary thoughts to the Drum Corps International merchandise team. Here are some of his excerpts:"The "Year in Review" is quite good. Very informative and just the right length - under three minutes. The picture quality is excellent -- I cannot believe the quality of 87 and 91.The sound quality is excellent. Vast improvement in bass. The volume range is very wide, almost too wide. In order to hear the beginning of the Cadets' '98 ballad, I had to crank the system up a bit, and then had to turn it back down for anything over forte. Way cool - each disc has all the recaps of 74 - 99! Sweet!Overall, I am extremely satisfied! I'm gonna donate my video tapes to a high school music program. DCI, other than some minor kvetches, job incredibly well done.
