The 2015 Cadets were hard at work this past weekend during a rehearsal camp at Valley Central High School in Pennington, New Jersey. This year the corps is set to the bring a program called "The Power of 10" to football fields across the country. Cadets Director George Hopkins says that musical selections will be based on Dimitri Shostakovich's "10th Symphony," with a number of nods to the number 10 incorporated throughout the visual program.
Hopkins kept followers updated throughout the weekend with video clips of the corps' brass and percussion sections rehearsing parts of the second and fourth movements of the production. Impressed with the talent and progress exhibited by his corps at this early point in the season, Hopkins, who was a member of the Crossmen in the 1980s, posted on Facebook: "Always smile at how well [the corps members] play on a first ensemble. When I marched this would take all year." The Cadets will have one more camp for the combined brass and percussion sections at the end of January, which will be the last time until April that the organization assembles its full ensemble for rehearsal.
