The U.S. Army's Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps performs at the DCI Eastern Classic in Allentown.
Nearly every year as part of the Drum Corps International Tour and World Championships, DCI has the privilege of featuring active-duty military music groups. For the first time this summer DCI hosted the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. One of premier musical groups of the U.S. Army, the ensemble wears uniforms that harken back to the Revolutionary War's Continental Army. The group performed throughout the city during Championship Week events in Indianapolis in addition to the DCI Eastern Classic in Allentown, Pennsylvania, earlier in August. Returning to the DCI World Championships for the first time since 2011, "The Commandant's Own" U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle corps took its familiar performance slot at the top of the Saturday night Finals competition. Attired in their striking red and white uniforms, the ensemble also played the finalist corps back onto the field as part of the awards ceremony to close out the night. As the summer tour rolled along, a number of other military musical acts also dotted the DCI Tour with their performances of the National Anthem and "God Bless America" at other select events. Drum Corps International extends its sincerest gratitude to our veterans for their dedication and sacrifice in serving our country. Many thanks for your service!
