from the Cavaliers' Web site: In the corps' 58th year, the Green Machine will turn to two veteran members, 21-year-old Tommy Allen of Indianapolis and 21-year-old Jordan Thomas of Grand Prairie, Texas, to serve as drum major and assistant drum major. Allen, who has spent five years in the Cavaliers' color guard (2002-2005) and also two in the Pride of Cincinnati winter guard (2003-2004), will no doubt draw from his musical background as a clarinetist during his drum major tenure. At Lawrence Central High School, he played clarinet in the top ensembles and also was drum major his junior and senior year, leading the marching band to its 2002 Bands of America Grand National Championship title. Allen currently attends the Illinois Institute of Art, majoring in marketing and management. Thomas, who also comes from a strong marching band program (L.D. Bell High School), has participated in the Metro Alliance winter drum line in 2004 in addition to the 2004 and 2005 Cavaliers' tenor drum section. He studies arithmetic at the University of Texas, Arlington, and plans to become a high school math teacher.
