An early Blue Stars report

by Drum Corps International

From Greg Struve, executive director of the Blue Stars: In the '60s and the '70s the Blue Stars were often introduced as "the kid's from God's Country." The first picture was taken by Alumnus John Perdzock on Memorial Day weekend. John's son Andy Perdzock is one of two second-generation Blue Stars marching this summer. The top picture shows the corps warming up for a local parade at our spring training facility -- Camp Decorah in Holmen, Wis. This environment, located 15 miles north of La Crosse, truly lives up to the billing of "God's Country." The lower picture shows the corps in our first performance of the year -- the Onalaska Sunfish Days Parade. I got quite a bit of positive feedback from the alums and local residents. There's been quite a bit of coverage in the local paper here. The community is very supportive and people are excited to see the corps' growth.
