An eight-year-old's drum corps introduction

This photo is from Andy Lalor of Collinsville, Ill.

This is a photo (taken by me) of my eight-year-old daughter, Abby, entering the Alton (Ill.) Public School Stadium shortly before the start of the Alton Drum and Brass Revue on July 7, 2006.

I am a drum corps alum of Mirage (Rantoul, Ill.; snare line/drum major, 1993) and the Black Knights (Belleville, Ill.; snare line, 1989), and I attend the Alton show every year. Last year, I took Abby to the DCI Cinema Live Quarterfinals cinecast, and she loved it, so I decided this year would be her first live show! She screamed for each corps, loved every performance, and Capital Regiment has found themselves a new biggest fan! (She thought they should have won the night!)

It was a special night for me, a long-time DCI fan and former marching member, to introduce this wonderful activity to a new generation of fan -- and possibly a future corps member!

Thanks, Andy!
