"Best feeling I've had in over 100 shows." You may think this is a comment from one of the many corps members at the Showdown on Sunday, however this quote came from one of our illustrious Showdown Fan Judges. Sunday's show had a slightly different format than the everyday drum corps show. Drum Corps fans came from over two hundred miles away to see The Cadets, The Cavaliers, the Empire Statesmen, and the Syracuse Brigadiers. The fans were surprised that in addition to DCI judges, they too would be judging the show. Two hundred Fan Judge's were selected randomly from the crowd. Upon answering a drum corps trivia question correctly, they were awarded with their Fan Judge shirt, pen, and judging sheets. With their special Showdown shirts on and pens ready the Fan Judges watched each show very carefully. Their results...The Showdown in Buffalo DCI and DCA gold medalists are The Cavaliers and the Syracuse Brigadiers. There was however a slight discrepancy between the Fan Judges and the DCI judges. The DCI judges awarded The Cadets with the Showdown in Buffalo 2001 gold medal award. Stay tuned for the results from next weeks Orlando Summer Music Games, where the Blue Devils, The Cadets, and The Cavaliers will go head to head at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
