Beyond being beneficial to students, a drum corps competition also gives elementary, middle and high school the opportunity to socialize, eat a catered dinner and enjoy the proceedings from a prime location – the press box high above the field. Approximately 100 band directors from the Murfreesboro area congregated at such a get-together tonight before the Masters of the Summer Music games contest in Tennessee. Many traveled with their bands to the contest."I've got my whole band here! We're very excited," said Angela Robertson, who is in her second year of teaching at Northwest High School in Clarksville, Tenn.. Robertson is excited by the techniques that her students will witness firsthand tonight. "This will be the first time any of my kids have seen any (drum corps activity), so I think they'll pretty much be blown away by it, and it will give them something to try and achieve," Robertson said.
