Band instructors say drum corps shows students marching possibilities beyond high school

by Drum Corps International

Marching bands across the country will be taking to the parking lots and football fields in the coming weeks, learning music and drill sets for the 2006 fall marching season. Band director Kerri Hogele and color guard instructor Gentri Smith of Milford, N.Y., took a group of Milford Marching Band students in August to the DCI Eastern Classic in Allentown, Pa. DCI.org's Michael Boo caught up with these music education professionals at the event and asked how the drum corps show would impact their students. "Seeing these drum corps performances inspires the students to work harder in what we do at Milford to make us a better band and a better guard." said Hogele. Listen to the audio interview.
