From a Blue Knights' press release: The Blue Knights' April camp was held this past weekend at Chaparral High School in Parker, Colo. By all accounts, it went very well.

Mark Arnold, corps director, said, "The camp was a great success! Considering we missed out on our March camp due to the blizzard, we had a lot of catching up to do! By the end of the April camp we had learned 18 pages of drill, and successfully ensembled our entire musical book with brass and percussion. It was exciting to hear the completed version of our music. I think our fans will be pleased with our selections and find the music very powerful and uplifting. Another big plus with this camp was the return of our guard. After missing the last few camps due to the winter guard season, it was a joy to have them around again!"

Pat Amann, percussion caption head, said, "The camp went very well. It was good to get together again. We hadn't seen the full corps for a long time due to WGI and the big blizzard. I feel really positive about the 2003 Blue Knights. We were able to put 20 pages of drill on the field and we also did our first full musical run-through. I don't remember the last time we were able to do that in April. The percussion section is moving to Denver on May 18 to get a jump on the summer. Our goal is to have all the drill on the field by June 9 to June 12. That way we can have about seven days of rehearsal on the entire show before our first show in California."

Kevin Morris, color guard caption head, said, "Since we haven't had a camp since December, it was good to have the guard spinning again. Everyone came prepared, which was nice to see. The rifles learned the opening feature and the flag line learned parts of the opener. The guard is going to be really good this year! Circumstances have prevented several members from being able to continue this season, so we currently have about nine holes to fill, both rifle and flag spots. If you know of someone who is interested, please have them give me a call at 303-783-0227."

The next camp will be held over the Memorial Day weekend, and will feature a Monday pot luck and performance of the corps. Stay tuned for further information!
