From the Boston Crusaders' Web site: Saturday, June 14, 2003 was a real treat for the more than 200 attendees of the Boston Crusaders' annual "Spring Fling" event. Not only was the evening delightful, with great company, food, and fun -- but the event generated several thousand dollars as an important fund raiser for the corps. The event included the induction of five Boston Crusaders "Giants" into the Crusaders Hall of Fame. Ed Denon, Gerry Shellmer, Neal Smith, Joe Ricci and Dan Pitts were recognized for their contributions and dedication to the success of the Boston Crusaders organization. DCI executive director Dan Acheson attended the event and was also recognized as an "Honorary Crusader" for his support of the Boston Organization over the years, especially during the "lean times" of the past. The highlight of the evening was an outstanding standstill performance by the Crusaders of their 2003 field show entitled "Bravo!" Crusaders' legendary drum major Mike Woodall, who emceed the evening's event, won a chance to conduct the corps in a rousing rendition of "Conquest" and "America The Beautiful." The evening concluded with everyone singing the corps song, "Giant."
