Blue Stars
Twelve World Class drum corps performed in the Georgia Dome this afternoon during the first half of the DCI Southeastern Championship. The Boston Crusaders (85.850) placed first in the competition followed by the Blue Stars (2nd, 84.875), Glassmen (3rd, 83.000) and Crossmen (4th, 82.700). These four corps will advance to the evening portion of today's event where they will compete against the top eight corps as determined by the results of last weekend's show in San Antonio. "We had an excellent performance this afternoon," said Blue Stars drum major Jonathan Powell. "We came out with some new headgear and new props, and I think it was very exciting not only for the corps but also for the audience." The Blue Stars also inserted a new ending to their production, the bicycle race-themed "Le Tour: Every Second Counts." Powell said, "We like to think of it as a nice little finale to the show. We finally have someone winning the last stage of the race, and it ties it all nicely together." Glassmen members have reached a point in the season where their focus is all about refining their production "Kar-ne-vel." Glassmen drum major Michael McGreevy said, "It's going to be little things from here on out. Any drastic changes are done, and now we're starting to clean the show up and get it ready for two weeks from now." Greevy said the corps members maximized their performance this afternoon. "They had a lot of energy and just threw it out there today even after a long drive in."

Crossmen
The Crossmen qualified for the final position advancing to the evening contest. Drum major, Meghan Huber, said "We've been working the past few days up in Missouri and again in Georgia, and a lot of what we've rehearsed definitely showed up today. We're pretty excited to hear the results and hopefully will do it again tonight." Also performing this afternoon were the Madison Scouts (5th, 81.825), Colts (6th, 80.725), Spirit (7th, 80.425), Pacific Crest (8th, 77.200), The Academy (9th, 77.000), Troopers (10th, 76.450), Mandarins (11th, 75.225) and Pioneer (12th,70.300).
