Spirit of Newark New Jersey held an open house on Dec. 2, at Old St. Lucy's Parrish Community Center in Newark, N.J. Turnout was excellent for the start of the corps' season. All parents and members were introduced to the staff, and after the brief meeting, the parents met with the executive staff. The members broke into sectionals with their new caption heads, and then worked with the corps' new visual caption head.

After a catered dinner the corps went back to work. At a show-and-tell performance, the color guard performed a 90-second dance and flag routine, the drum line played exercises and the horn line played one minute of "Pegesus," a piece the corps will perform in 2007.

There are still openings in the corps' horn line, drum line and color guard. Visit www.spiritofnewark.org for more information. Submitted by Teal Sound: Teal Sound would like to thank all who showed up in South Florida last Saturday for a great audition day.
