DCI.org's Dan Potter caught up with Freddy Martin, former Spirit of Atlanta director and newly inducted DCI Hall of Fame member, following the DCI Hall of Fame induction luncheon this January in Atlanta. Credited by many for being the driving force behind bringing drum corps to the southern United States, in this interview Martin gives the history of the upstart of Spirit of Atlanta during the 1970s. He also explains the importance of drum corps in the lives of his children, who have all gone on to become successful performers in the arts. "[My children] grew up in drum corps. All of those positive things that drum corps is and can do, were done for my sons and my daughter," he said. View the video interview below.
