From a Boston Crusaders press release: Dean Broadbent has joined the Boston Crusaders organization and will serve on the color guard staff in 2004. "Dean brings a dimension to the color guard program that completes our staff. Not only is Dean extremely talented and innovative, he is the epitome of professionalism. I am extremely pleased to have him as a part of the Crusader team," said Howard Weinstein, the Crusaders' program director. Broadbent is a graduate of Western Connecticut State University. He is color guard director at Flanagan High School in Florida. Prior to coming to Flanagan in 2001, Broadbent taught music at Samuel Staples Elementary School in Easton, Conn. He marched from 1990-1992 in the Connecticut Hurricanes senior corps, and with the Cadets from 1993-1996. Broadbent has prior teaching experience with the 1997 Boston Crusaders, and was an instructor with the Cadets from 1998 to 2002, including a year spent as the color guard caption head in 2001. In 2003, Broadbent served as caption head for the Magic of Orlando. His other color guard teaching experiences include Danbury High School in Connecticut from 1994 to 1998, and Norwalk High School (also in Connecticut) from 1998 to 2001.
