Oregon Crusaders march past the Indiana War Memorial.
For the second year in a row, the 2012 Celebrate Indy Arts! Parade brought together all non-finalist Open and World Class corps and members of the local Indianapolis arts community for a parade the morning of the World Championship Finals, Saturday, Aug. 11. Singer/songwriter and former American Idol contestant Shaun Canon, who served as Grand Marshal, was also part of the parade that wound through the streets of downtown Indianapolis. Concluding the morning's festivities, roughly 2,000 brass musicians joined together on the steps of the Indiana War Memorial to play an en masse rendition of "Simple Gifts." Judged by Drum Corps International Hall of Fame members and other dignitaries, several awards were given out to both the corps and the other participating arts organizations.
