'Awesome thing' coming to Van Buren
Big names are heading west to compete in the annual Battle on the Border Drum Corps International Tour Event in Van Buren, Ark. Battle on the Border typically draws a large crowd, and the same is expected this year, as the Cadets, Santa Clara Vanguard, and Crossmen will all be there. Event coordinator Ron Smith says in the article, "I kind of liken this to those people who follow a particular rock band – the Deadheads traveled to see Grateful Dead. There are people who will go to whatever lengths to see DCI events in their region."

Fort Mill High School got the BEAT
FirstBEAT, Carolina Crown's home show, will be held June 20, with a portion of the events benefitting the Fort Mill High school's marching band, and another going to the York County Cancer Association. Speaking on the corps' philanthropy, Liz Ciardi, Crown Board of Directors member, said, "I hope this is a lesson they learn here and carry forward in their lives, to give back whenever possible."

Fisher makes Phantom drum line
Aaron Fisher, 16, earned a spot with Phantom Regiment's 2010 drum line. He looks forward to learning as much as he can this summer, especially from the corps' director of the drum line, Paul Rennick.
