The Cadets

As part of their 75th anniversary celebrations, the Cadets will host an open house on Sunday, March 15, at Woodstown, N.J. High School. Free and open to the public, the event will include refreshments and a social starting at noon, followed by a special ensemble performance by the corps.

Carolina Crown’s 2009 program, “The Grass is Always Greener,” will feature a diverse selection of music from Aaron Copland to Elvis Costello. Setting the theme, “performers will embark on a magical journey of initial beauty, quirky creatures, dangerous darkness, forbidden romance, a climactic epiphany, and an eventual voyage home.”

Pacific Crest has started up its popular “Offshore” video series for the 2009 season, showcasing a brief excerpt of the corps’ program, “El Corazon de la Gente.”

A new video posted on the Phantom Regiment Fan Network goes in depth with executive director Rick Valenzuela about the corps’ recent rehearsal camp, new horns and uniforms, and the organization’s presence on Facebook.

Spirit of Newark/New Jersey

Spirit of Newark/New Jersey

The Spirit of Newark is working with Rutgers University to offer students 10th grade and higher, the chance to earn college credits while participating as members of the corps. In addition to this partnership, the organization is also utilizing Rutgers’ facilities as its new local rehearsal site.
