7th Regiment will host its annual season-ending banquet on Sunday Oct. 3 in New London, Conn. RSVPs are requested by Tuesday, Sept. 28.

Blue Devils

Blue Devils

The 2009 and 2010 World Champion Blue Devils are now accepting applications for brass, percussion and color guard positions for the 2011 season.

Blue Knights

Blue Knights

The Blue Knights booster organization will host its next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at the corps’ headquarters in Denver. Much of the meeting will focus on plans for the organization’s winter percussion and color guard ensembles in addition to the drum corps.

Blue Stars

Blue Stars

The Blue Stars are still recruiting members for its Alumni & All-Star Corps which will march down the streets La Crosse, Wis. for the Sept. 25 Maple Leaf Parade. The organization is also seeking volunteers to man the La Crosse Oktoberfest Brat Stand between Sept. 22 and Oct. 3, which is one of the corps’ biggest fundraisers of the year.

Bluecoats

Bluecoats

The Bluecoats will host four separate auditions for the 2011 season across the United States. Austin, Texas, Canton, Ohio, Mission Viejo, Calif. and Atlanta Ga., will all be audition locations in November and December of this year.

Dr. Omar Carmentes, Boston Crusaders caption head and arranger will step down from his position with the corps for the 2011 season. A member of the corps in the early 2000s, Carmentes has spent the last seven years as a staff member working in various capacities. “For ten seasons the Boston Crusaders have been an integral part of my life,” Carmentes said. “Through an engagement, a wedding, three college degrees, two children, and a full-time job at a prestigious university, the corps has been alongside me supporting my every move. It is with a heavy heart that I have chosen to step back from the organization.”

The Cadets

The Cadets

The Cadets announced their 2010 Class of the Hall of Honored Veterans which recognizes Cadets alumni who have also served in the U.S. Armed Forces. “We are thrilled to bring recognition to those special Cadets that have made a difference in the world,” said director George Hopkins. “Military service is clearly a huge challenge and commitment, and it’s important to bring attention to all who have offered support to our country!”

Crossmen announced that Chuck Naffier and Jason Buckingham will lead the corps’ brass team for the 201 season. Naffier, a former Crossmen staff member from 2000-2003, will serve as arranger and consultant, and Buckingham, who has been on the brass staffs of numerous corps, will serve as caption head.

Impulse

Impulse will host its annual banquet on Sunday, Sept. 12 at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center in Buena Park, Calif. Tickets cost $30 and can be purchased online or at the door.

Legends

The 2011 Legends Winter Guard is currently recruiting both color guard and brass performers. Open house and auditions will take place in the Kalamazoo, Mich. area on dates in September, October and November.

Mandarins

Mandarins

The Mandarins Brass Academy will start rehearsing this September. The indoor, non-marching ensemble provides a “fun learning environment dedicated to helping brass players grow in their performance level.”

You can now register your foursome for Pacific Crest’s annual charity golf tournament which will take place on Friday, Oct. 8 at the Los Serranos Golf and Country Club in Chino Hills, Calif.

Phantom Regiment

Phantom Regiment

Phantom Regiment is currently seeking donations for its annual End of the Year Campaign. As part of the fundraising effort, the corps’ board of directors has issued a challenge to fans to raise $15,000 in 30 days which will be matched dollar for dollar.

Platinum

Platinum will host two audition camps this fall, first on Nov. 6 in Danville, Ky. and then on Nov. 20 in the corps’ hometown of Raleigh, N.C. Students should visit the corps’ website and fill out the “prospective member” form to express their interest in attending.

Revolution reports that its “complete design team is on board and already hard at work putting the 2011 production in play.”

Santa Clara Vanguard

Santa Clara Vanguard

Last weekend the Santa Clara Vanguard appointed Paul Rennick as percussion arranger and caption manager. Rennick most recently served in a similar position with the Phantom Regiment. His percussion sections at Phantom earned top caption honors in 2006, 2008 and 2010. “I’m very excited to be part of such an esteemed organization as the Vanguard, and to work with such talented students and teachers. I look forward to writing and instructing with the corps, and helping the percussion section achieve its high standard of excellence. I can’t wait to get started,” said Rennick.

A consultant to the corps in 2010, Teal Sound has appointed Jeff Bridges to the role of program director. “I can think of no one better to be involved with our program at this level,” said director Randy Blackburn. “His years of involvement within DCI and WGI as well as the band world will strengthen our program as we move into the future here at Teal”.
