The Academy The Academy will debut music from its 2013 competitive production, "Pianoman" at the organization's Memorial Day Preview Concert on Monday, May 27 in Tempe, Ariz. Anyone wearing a corps jacket (no matter the corps) is invited to enter the event for free.

Blue Devils After a group of drummers recently returned from a successful educational performance trip to Lithuania, the Blue Devils organization reaffirmed its commitment to its "One Music One World" initiative. "We've long held the belief that it is important to give our members opportunities to experience a variety of diverse cultures, traditions, customs, and contemporary lifestyles through international travel and performances," Blue Devils Executive Director David Gibbs said. The organization plans to send a group of performers for a return trip to Malaysia this summer with future events planned in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Blue Stars Blue Stars have been running a contest for aspiring composers and arrangers to compose a piece to be played by the 2013 Blue Stars as part of their encore performance repertoire. By popular request, the deadline for submissions has been extended to Wednesday, May 22.

Boston Crusaders Boston Crusaders today announced that Executive Director Tom Spataro will step down from his position at the end of the corps' 2013 summer season. Aiming to bring the organization's programs into a unified structure, earlier this year the Crusaders Board of Directors approved changing the name of the corps' non-profit corporation from the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps, Inc. to Inspire Arts and Music, Inc. Taking over to the head the Inspire Arts and Music operation will be corps alum Thompson Vou. "It has been a true honor to lead this storied organization for the last six years, and I will certainly have many fond memories of the Giants that have come through our doors during my tenure," Spataro said.

The Cadets The Cadets will be utilizing several large props as part of its 2013 production, "Side By Side," and are looking for several individuals to join a four-person road crew to manage the setup, tear down and moving of them when necessary. The corps is also in need of a driver who can join the corps' summer tour staff to handle airport pick-ups and drop-offs, grocery runs and other errands.

Carolina Crown Carolina Crown announced the title of its 2013 production "e=mc2." Musical selections will include works by Philip Glass, Richard Strauss, Paul Lovatt-Cooper, Bertrand Moren and Alan Silvestri.

The Cavaliers The Cavaliers will present its GearWORKS: Summer Academy Educational Camps and Clinics in three locations during July including Lisle, Ill., Oskaloosa, Iowa and Edmond, Okla. The camps are geared toward high school and college performers seeking to improve their skills in percussion, color guard or wind instruments.

Gold Get a first look at Gold during the Southern California Drum Corps Sneak Preview Show on Saturday, June 15 in Hacienda Heights, Calif. The event will include food and performances by other drum corps including Pacific Crest and Impulse.

Jersey Surf Hundreds of American flags will be flying in Sicklerville, N.J., Monday, May 27, as Jersey Surf hosts a special patriotic celebration recognizing all of those who have and continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces. The event will include a presentation by local dignitaries and a performance by the drum corps. For $39, you can sponsor one of the flags at the event and dedicate it honor of the person of your choice.

Pacific Crest The Southern California Drum Corps Sneak Preview and Food Truck Festival on Saturday, June 15 in Hacienda Heights, Calif., will feature a number of gourmet food trucks in addition to the debut of several drums corps including Pacific Crest, Impulse and Gold. $10 tickets for the event are now on sale through the corps' website.

Pioneer Pioneer has openings in its brass section for trumpets, mellophones, baritones and tuba players. Several of those positions can be filled by woodwind, percussion or other musicians willing to learn the basics of brass performance. The corps also is specifically on the lookout for two lead trumpet soloists and several color guard members.
