The Academy
The Academy extended its series of educational open house sessions for prospective corps members. The free events will be offered on several dates in November in California and Arizona.
Blue Knights
Prospective members of the Blue Knights who register before Oct. 31 can save $15 on the cost of the corps’ audition camps.
Blue Stars
Blue Stars announced the new and returning members of the corps’ percussion staff who will be led by caption head Eric Shriver. “Eric Shriver and his team did an outstanding job last season of setting a tone of excellence and excitement for the Blue Stars’ percussion program,” Executive Director Brad Furlano said.
The Cavaliers
The Cavaliers are working to raise funds to cover the medical costs of one of the corps’ longtime kitchen managers who in September was robbed at gunpoint and shot multiple times. Donations are currently being accepted online. The corps will also host a spaghetti dinner benefit on Sunday, Nov. 12 in Park Ridge, Ill.
City Sound
Los Angeles-based City Sound is running a fundraising campaign to make its first-ever trip to the DCI World Championships in Indianapolis this summer.
Coastal Surge
Coastal Surge profiled one of the corps’ newest color guard staff members in a post on Facebook.
Colts
A.J. Pace will serve as Colts percussion caption head for the corps’ 2014 season. David Nelson will return as percussion arranger.
Crossmen
Crossmen announced that Andrew Markworth will serve as percussion arranger for the 2014 corps. The organization will also welcome back Al Chez and Jaime Alvarez-Calderon to the corps’ design staff.
Legends
Legends timpanist Jacob Elliott is featured in the October newsletter of the Percussive Arts Society.
Madison Scouts
The Madison Scouts will host their annual board of directors meeting on Friday, Nov. 1 in Madison, Wis. The event will include a recap of the corps’ 2013 fiscal year and a “state of the union” address on the 2014 corps by Executive Director Chris Komnick.
Mandarins
Mandarins posted a video slideshow recapping the corps’ recent 50th anniversary celebration.
Music City
Yesterday Music City launched an online fundraising campaign through GoFundMe.com. The corps is aiming to raise $50,000 to help the corps return to the field in 2014. Donation levels come with various “rewards,” including some that offer the opportunity for the donor to conduct the group playing its theme song, “Tennessee Waltz.”
Pioneer
Pioneer posted the fall version of its official newsletter, “The Shamrock.” Topics include preparing for rehearsal camps, a schedule of audition dates and locations, and a guide to fundraising.
Raiders
Raiders’ technique and audition information materials are now available. Prospective members can access them by submitting a membership application.
Spirit of Atlanta
Spirit of Atlanta announced its new and returning design staff members and caption heads.
