Blue Devils



The Blue Devils have formed a new partnership with D'Addario & Company, Inc., parent company of Evans Drum Heads. The two organizations will work together to design a line of new percussion accessories under the Blue Devils' "System Blue" name. "The Blue Devils organization and staff bring the talent and experience essential to Evans' process of design innovation. It'll be like pouring gasoline on the fire," said Jim Bailey, manager of educator relations for Evans.

Blue Stars



The parent organization of the Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps, Blue Star Cadets Youth Band and Blue Stars Alumni Corps has changed its name from L.B.S. Cadets, Inc. to Blue Stars Performing Arts for Youth, Inc. "This organizational name change is something we have been discussing for a few years now to better reflect the nature of our company," said executive director Brad Furlano.

The Cadets



In response to the current national economic climate, the Cadets' alumni committee has decided to cancel a 75th anniversary gala previously scheduled for May 24. All efforts will now be focused on the celebration of the Cadets Diamond Bash which will take place on Aug. 1 in Montclair, N.J.

Crossmen



The Crossmen with Broadway Bank and local PBS affiliate KLRN, teamed up during February for the second annual Rick Bayless' "One Plate at a Time" Food Drive benefiting the San Antonio Food Bank. "Crossmen low brass instructor, Gary Barnard, came up with the idea of our corps members giving something back to our community in these tough economic times," said Crossmen corps director, Mark Chambers. "Gary suggested that the members bring a non-perishable food item to the next winter camp as a demonstration of caring for others less fortunate."

Memphis Sound



In the process of relocating its operation base from Memphis, Tenn., to Grand Prairie, Texas, Memphis Sound is currently running a contest through March 31, that will determine a new name for the corps. The new corps name will take effect in 2010 when the organization's move to Texas is complete.

Phantom Regiment



Phantom Regiment has been nominated for a Rockford Area Music Industry (RAMI) Award in the category of "Musical Outreach Organization." The RAMI Awards recognize and celebrate the efforts of groups and individuals who are involved in the local music community. As a previous winner of the award, Phantom Regiment also is a member of the RAMI Hall of Fame. Voting for the recognition is open to the public through March 21.

Pioneer



In what has become an annual tradition, Pioneer members will participate in the 2009 South Side Irish St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 15, in Chicago. The event will mark the corps' first public performance of this year. The South Side Irish Parade is considered the largest neighborhood-based St. Patrick's Day parade outside of Dublin, Ireland.

Santa Clara Vanguard



Santa Clara Vanguard will host a 42nd birthday celebration on Sunday, March 22, at the Vanguard Hall in Santa Clara, Calif. The event which includes a spaghetti dinner, will conclude with the 2009 debut performances by the Vanguard and Vanguard Cadets.

7th Regiment



7th Regiment members recently completed their March rehearsal camp at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. "Everyone's energy and enthusiasm was high and the rehearsal etiquette was outstanding," reported color guard caption head Dana Saccomano.
