The Academy

The Academy’s annual fundraising benefit in March, raised a much needed $20,000 that will directly benefit the organization. If you’d like to add on to that $20k benchmark, the corps is still accepting donations through its website.

Blue Devils B is still looking for a limited number of brass players to fill open positions in its horn line for the 2012 season. The corps is also recruiting for its color guard section that will begin rehearsals Sunday, April 29.

1983 Cadets alum Caryn Goebel recently began publishing a series of feature articles showcasing significant moments in Cadets history at YEA.org. One of her latest installments details the efforts made in 1980 to take a corps struggling in the winter months to recruit members, to the DCI World Championship Finals that summer in Birmingham, Ala.

The Cascades will re-locate the remainder of their off-season rehearsal camps and first week of spring training at a new location, Naches Valley Middle School in Washington.

The Cavaliers

The Cavaliers organization will host two “Chop Sessions” for budding percussionists coming up on Saturday, April 14, and Sunday, May 6, in the Chicagoland area. The corps bills these educational events as “intensive prep sessions geared toward students looking to continue developing their individual skills throughout the spring, in preparation for marching band, drum corps and winter drum line auditions.”

Gold’s 2012 production “Different,” will be “an 11 ½ minute all-original show that celebrates diversity and tolerance.” “This year’s show will hopefully transcend what we do on the field,” Director Dr. Donald Flaherty said. “Our goal is start a conversation about the importance of celebrating our differences. “

This week Forte launched a fresh new look to its website at ForteCorps.org. The corps says: “This is the first step in creating an exciting, interactive website that is the hub for the organization. Check back often as the site will continue to grow and expand with new information, media, retail and exciting news about Forte.”

Jersey Surf will present a patriotic “We the People” tribute over Memorial Day Weekend in Sicklerville, N.J. As part of the event that will feature a dramatic display of more than 1,000 American flags, will be addresses by several dignitaries along with a special performance by the Jersey Surf. Madison Scouts

Madison Scouts alums will be hosting the 12th annual “Rockin’ for a Cure” on Saturday, April 21, in Madison, Wis. The musical charity event founded in 2000 by the late Scouts alum Steve Weekes, raises funds for the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) Association Wisconsin Chapter.
