The Academy

More than 200 brass and percussionists were in attendance for the Academy’s first of two audition camps in Tempe, Ariz. Though temperatures were cool, the corps was able to rehearse outside for the entire weekend.

The Bluecoats report that they’re “off to an excellent start” after audition/experience camps in Austin, Texas; Canton, Ohio; and Mission Viejo, Calif. “We are extremely pleased with the turnout of both new talent and returning veterans at the first few camps of the 2010 season,” said executive director David Glasgow.

Capital Regiment

Capital Regiment

Along with a complete roster of 2010 staff members, Capital Regiment has announced its ’10 competitive production which will be titled “MetaMORPHosis.” Musical excerpts will include “Opening from Mishima” by Philip Glass, “The Skyboat” byJames Newton Howard, “A Really Good Cloak” by Mark Isham, and “Miranda” by Michael Nyman.

The Crossmen will perform the music of Pat Metheny for the corps’ 2010 production “Full Circle.” Incorporating the acclaimed jazz guitarist’s tunes into many of its programs over the years, the corps most notably performed complete Pat Metheny productions in 1991 and 1998. “The design team has been working hard these past weeks to nail down many of the concepts and direction of the show,” said director Mark Chambers. “The meetings have been energized and the team is very excited about the possibilities as this show develops.” 

Oregon Crusaders

Oregon Crusaders

The Oregon Crusaders completed a successful December audition camp with nearly 100 brass, percussion and color guard members in attendance—a turnout that the organization reported “was the best in recent memory.”

Glassmen

Due to last minute scheduling changes and weather challenges in the Midwest, the Glassmen have postponed their Florida audition camp scheduled for Dec. 12 in the Orlando area. Details about a rescheduled date and other audition opportunities will be forthcoming on the corps’ Web site.

The Racine Scouts have postponed their audition camp scheduled for Dec. 13-14 to January 9-10.

Raiders

The Raiders have postponed their audition camp scheduled for Dec. 12-13 to the weekend of January 15.

Santa Clara Vanguard

You’re invited to join fellow Santa Clara Vanguard parents, prospective parents, alumni, fans and friends on Saturday, Dec. 12 for the first Team SCV meeting of 2010 season. CEO Jeff Fiedler, COO Kathy Serksnis and Operations Director George Brown will be on hand to answer questions and discuss SCV programs and organizational projects.

Due to a conflict with the Florida Music Educators Association Convention in Tampa, Fla. from Jan. 8-10, the Teal Sound camp on that weekend has been rescheduled to Jan. 15-17 in Palm Coast, Fla.
