The Academy will reveal a new uniform in honor of its 10th anniversary on April 29 to corps members and a select group of supporters. Working up to that date, the corps is making a final push for donations to its new uniform campaign.

The Blue Devils’ System Blue division has partnered with music publisher Row-Loff Productions to offer a variety of resources to students and educators.

Tickets are now on sale for the Blue Stars’ River City Rhapsody DCI Tour event in Woodbury, Minn. The event featuring the Blue Stars, Bluecoats, Cavaliers, Colts, Troopers, Minnesota Brass, Pioneer and Govenaires will take place on Tuesday, June 28.

Make your reservation now to stay at the Bluecoats’ headquarters hotel at the 2011 DCI World Championships in Indianapolis. Special rates are available in the special Bluecoats room block at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Indy. You are also invited to celebrate with the corps during its annual awards banquet at the hotel on Sunday, Aug. 14, the day after the World Championship Finals.

Percussion performers and composers take note! The Boston Crusaders want you for their brand new Best American Cadence contest. Your one to two minute original cadence or “street beat” submitted as part of the contest, could win you an exact replica of the Mapex snare drums played by the Crusaders in 2011, as well as the opportunity to have your piece premiered by the corps’ drum line at the DCI Salutes America event on June 25 in Arlington, Va.

A new contest from the Cadets calls on all diehard marching music fans to submit a one-minute video detailing why they should be considered the corps’ Ultimate Fan. The grand prize winner will win exclusive tickets to Cadets events this summer, as well as a personal video camera to record experiences as the Ultimate Fan and as an official correspondent of the corps. The contest runs from April 12 to May 15.

RSVP today to attend Carolina Crown’s season-ending banquet this August in Indianapolis. Taking place on Sunday, Aug. 15 (the day after the World Championship Finals), the breakfast buffet at the Hilton in the heart of downtown Indy, will feature an awards presentation and a chance for the corps’ age-out members to bid fond farewell to their fellow corpsmates.

The Cavaliers’ Green Thunder Percussion ensemble will be competing this weekend at the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. If you’re attending, don’t forget to stop by the corps’ booth (#59) in the expo area at the University of Dayton Arena.

The Colts Youth Organization is co-sponsoring the Dubuque Day of Brass on Monday, April 18. The event, taking place on the campus of Clarke University, will feature an educational master class and concert by the Iowa Brass Quintet. All events are free and open to the public.

Cadets alum and current Crossmen program consultant Al Chez, who is a trumpet player with the CBS Late Night Show, will be making a debut performance with his 17-person Brothers of Funk band on May 7 in Dominion, N.Y. The Crossmen also this week announced the title of their 2011 production “Renewal,” which will feature tunes by Nando Lauria, David Clayton Thomas and Leonard Coehn.

The Glassmen percussion section with caption coordinator Rob Ferguson will present an educational session at the 2011 Ohio Day of Percussion on Saturday, April 30, at Wright State University in Dayton.

Jersey Surf

Jersey Surf

Jersey Surf is collecting submissions for a brand new book, “Taste of the Surf.” The corps needs your help filling the pages of the cookbook with more than 250 recipes. Also featured will be some favorite recipes from the Jersey Surf cook truck. The book will be published in the spring and available for sale at the corps’ souvenir trailer throughout the summer season. All recipes must be submitted by May 15.

Madison Scouts

Madison Scouts

The Madison Scouts will be a featured group at the Texas Bandmasters Association Clinic/Convention on Sunday, July 24 in San Antonio, Texas. “The corps is honored to be invited for this event,” said Executive Director Chris Komnick. “We are preparing a clinic that will provide those band directors attending an in-depth look into our design and show preparation process. As well, we are preparing a stage performance production that will not only include selections from our 2011 field show, but several other pieces and small ensemble features.”

Mandarins’ 2011 production will be titled “The Forty Thieves,” featuring musical selections by the Israeli percussion duo, PercaDu.

Pacific Crest

The Pacific Crest Drum Major Camp will take place Wednesday, June 29 through Friday, July 1 in Oceanside, Calif. The camp will offer high schoolers the opportunity to take part in interactive educational workshops and attend the Corps at the Crest San Diego DCI Tour event.

Last weekend in Dayton, Ohio, the Santa Clara Vanguard Winter Guard won its second WGI World Championship in the last three years. This coming weekend the Vanguard Winter Percussion ensemble will head to Dayton for the WGI Percussion World Championships.

Spirit of Atlanta

Spirit of Atlanta

Spirit of Atlanta is accepting applications for summer administrative interns. Interns will travel with the corps and help manage logistics and other details during the corps’ summer tour.
