This year, the Blue Devils have received more than $12,000 in contributions to its Brass Alumni Scholarship Fund which will provide financial assistance to 25 current corps members.

Boston Crusaders

Boston Crusaders

The Boston Crusaders are currently recruiting volunteers to assist the corps on its 2012 coast-to-coast summer tour. The corps is looking for “anyone and everyone who is willing to join our food truck to wash dishes, mix Gatorade, chop carrots, haul garbage, slice potatoes, wash our red and black uniforms, or even get behind the wheel of one of our corps vehicles as a driver.”

Cadets Director George Hopkins will share details about the corps’ Christmas-inspired production “12.25,” in a special webinar scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on Monday, March 5.
Carolina Crown

Carolina Crown

Don Rawlins of Rawlins Law Firm, P.C. in Charlotte, N.C., has been elected to Carolina Crown’s board of directors. According to the corps’ website: “Don is a former marching member of the Memphis Blues Brass Band, a drum and bugle corps, and has been an active volunteer and member of Crown’s Advisory Council.”
Cascades

Cascades

Cascades will present a production inspired by Japanese culture in 2012 called “Shinto.” The program will utilize Japanese musical instruments including taiko drums with musical selections drawn from the works of composers John Mackey, Hans Zimmer and John Powell.
Crossmen

Crossmen

University of North Texas students Aaron Sanderson and Hunter Bown have been selected as Crossmen drum majors for the 2012 season. “These two young men are mature and talented beyond their years,” Assistant Corps Director Joe Banegas said. “Usually we would appoint one drum major to take the lead position and the second to assume the assistant drum major role. In a unique twist for the Crossmen we have selected Aaron and Hunter as a team.”

Glassmen

The Glassmen need volunteers for the organization’s Monte Carlo Fundraiser taking place March 2-4, in Toledo, Ohio.
Madison Scouts

Madison Scouts

The Madison Scouts are seeking CDL licensed Class A certified drivers for the corps’ summer tour. Interested individuals can be scheduled for two to eight week shifts between mid-June and August depending on availability.
Oregon Crusaders

Oregon Crusaders

Save the date for the Oregon Crusaders’ Cinco de Mayo dinner and auction on March 5. This fundraising event that will take place in downtown Portland and feature a special performance by the corps’ brass section.
Pacific Crest

Pacific Crest is close to having a 72-member horn line ready to take the field in 2012, but is still in need of a few trumpet, euphonium and tuba players to fill out the roster. The group’s next rehearsal will take place March 24-25, in Diamond Bar, Calif.

Join the Racine Scouts for their upcoming rehearsal camp March 10-11, at the Nativity of the Lord Catholic School in Cudahy, Wis. Positions are still available in all sections. Corps members who need accommodations on Friday, March 9 should contact the corps office at 262.331.3092.

Debuting a redesigned website this week, Santa Clara Vanguard also announced that its 2012 production “Music of the Starry Night,” will feature the music of Eric Whitacre, John Mackey and Gustav Holst.

The Vanguard Cadets’ 2012 production “Heroes and Legends,” will feature music by a number of composers including Samuel Barber, Jeff Beal, Andrew Lloyd Weber and Modeste Mussorgsky among others.

Spirit of Atlanta is recruiting administrative interns to work with the corps on its 2012 summer tour. Candidates must be 22 years of age by May 1, 2012, and be available from May 23 to Aug. 11.
