Jersey Surf As part of its first audition camp of the season, on Sunday, Nov. 21 the Jersey Surf will host an orientation session and "volunteer expo" for parents, alumni, friends and supporters. "This year, we're going to change the format of the orientation just a bit, so we can focus more of the session on the plan for the coming season, while providing an opportunity for folks to learn more about their areas of interest, or to get involved with the corps in an operational role as volunteers," said Executive Director Bob Jacobs.

Madison Scouts The Madison Scouts will soon rollout a comprehensive endowment and planned giving initiative. Working to "ensure the perpetual fiscal and organizational viability of the Madison Drum & Bugle Corps Association, Inc. via a sustaining endowment provided through one-time contributions, annual contributions, special project contributions and planned giving," the initiative was set in motion thanks to the generosity of supporter Bill Streit who passed away last December.

Mandarins Members of the Mandarins' design staff recently met in San Francisco for discussion on the corps' 2011 production. "It was great to have everyone in one room after the number of preliminary conversations we have had. There were a lot of good ideas put out there, and through our discussions we were able to narrow it down to a couple of opportunities that we are following up on," said program coordinator Greg Mar.

Pacific Crest Pacific Crest's 2011 production will be titled "Push, Pull, Twist, Turn." According to program coordinator Dale Leaman, "it's a program that melds music with the movement of body and form into a four-movement suite." Among the musical selections being considered for inclusion in the show are pieces by Mahler, Philip Glass and Danny Elfman.

Santa Clara Vanguard Santa Clara Vanguard just received delivery of a new 53-foot trailer that now needs to be outfitted to store all of the corps' equipment including instruments, color guard gear and uniforms. With a goal of having it on the road for the 2011 summer season, the corps is seeking volunteers to assist with the project.
