The Academy
The Academy has schedules and informational materials now available for prospective members auditioning for the corps’ brass, percussion and color guard sections.
Blue Devils B
Blue Devils B will host its annual “Be a Blue Devil for a Day” educational workshop on Saturday, Dec. 15, for those interested in joining the corps for the 2013 summer season.
Boston Crusaders
Boston Crusaders have more than a dozen tuition scholarships available to new and returning members to offset the cost of participation in the corps for the 2013 season. The awards, available specifically to music majors, range from $500 to $1,500.
The Cadets
The Cadets and Carolina Crown are pitted against each other in a fundraising challenge to see who can raise more money to support the two corps between Oct. 29 to Nov. 18. The corps that pulls in the most donations will not only receive bragging rights, but also a dinner cooked by the losing corps director during their 2013 summer tours.
Carolina Crown
Carolina Crown is taking on the Cadets between Oct. 29 and Nov. 18 to see who can raise more money to support the two corps. “Our fans are ready for the challenge and we’re eager to get started,” Carolina Crown Executive Director Jim Coates said. “Fundraising is so difficult these days, but so integral to our operations. With the challenge we can have a little good-natured fun and competition in the off-season and raise money at the same time.”
Cascades
Cory Meals will join the Cascades in 2013 as brass caption head. “I am very pleased that Cory is joining our staff this year. He is a first class person, educator, and performer. We are extremely lucky to have him with us,” Program Director Nick Benson said.
The Cavaliers
The Cavaliers announced three of the pieces of music design staff members will utilize in creating the corps’ still-to-be-named 2013 competitive production. Among the pieces are works by John Mackey, Michael Giacchino and David Holsinger.
Colts
Dave Nelson will return as Colts percussion caption head for the corps’ 2013 season. “We had an incredible vibe last year, which was driven by the wonderful relationships between the membership and staff,” Nelson said. View a complete roster of percussion staff members on the corps’ website.
Crossmen
John Leonard is slated to return for his third season with the Crossmen as color guard caption head. “John is not only a great educator himself, but has also been able to organize an outstanding team of educators these past couple of years. 2013 should be no different,” Program Coordinator Ed Devlin said.
Glassmen
Nick Scotella will serve as visual designer for the 2013 Glassmen. “Nick is an outstanding designer and I have admired his creativity and expertise in the art of staging, design and drill,” Director of Programs Sal Salas said.
Impulse
Impulse will host an open house for prospective corps members this Sunday, Nov. 4 at Marina High School in Huntington Beach, Calif.
Jersey Surf
Jersey Surf posted a note on its website reaching out to all those who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast. “We feel that in the face of unfathomable destruction in our own backyard, we have the opportunity and the responsibility to ‘Share the Love’ and stand tall as leaders in our region in ways which extend well beyond football stadiums, rehearsal fields and gymnasium floors.”
Legends
Legends is participating in the CITGO Fueling Good campaign, which will award $120,000 in gas prizes to worthy organizations. You can help the corps by voting on the Fueling Good website. The campaign runs through Nov. 28.
Madison Scouts
Madison Scouts alum Chad Duggan will join the corps’ design staff in 2013 as visual coordinator. “Chad has been a very valuable part of our resurgence over the past several seasons,” Executive Director Chris Komnick said. “He has helped develop the look of our color guard costume and flags while working directly with Artistic Director James Mason and the design team.”
Mandarins
Attend the Mandarins’ annual awards banquet on Nov. 23 in Sacramento, Calif. RSVPs are requested by Friday, Nov. 16.
Oregon Crusaders
Oregon Crusaders recently announced several additions to its 2013 percussion staff.
Pacific Crest
Pacific Crest’s inaugural RunPC 5K/1K will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11 at Frank G. Bonelli Park, located next to Raging Waters, in San Dimas, Calif. All proceeds from the run will benefit members of Pacific Crest in the form of alumni scholarships.
Phantom Regiment

Spartans
View a schedule of Spartans open house and winter practice sessions taking place in November and December in the corps’ hometown of Nashua, N.H.
Spirit of Atlanta
Attend Spirit of Atlanta’s audition information clinic this Sunday, Nov. 4 at Ola High School in McDonough, Ga. The five-hour event is open to students in all sections and is “designed to strengthen students’ musical and visual skills, answer questions about the drum corps experience and the Spirit of Atlanta audition process.”
