Boston Crusaders
Heading into its second year of operation, Mass Bay Music Festivals, a program of the Boston Crusaders, is beginning to gear up for its 2011 season. A series of spring music festivals in the metro Boston area, Mass Bay gives scholastic ensembles access to qualified adjudicators, educational clinics, and master classes as part of the program.
The Cadets
The Cadets will host an educational session for color guard members as part of their Feb. 18-20 rehearsal camp in New Jersey.
The Cavaliers
The Cavaliers named its corps member leadership team for 2011, led by returning drum major Brandon Cave. “We rely on the Junior Officers to serve as our student leaders and to be the pulse of the membership,” said Director Adolph DeGrauwe.
Mandarins
Members of the Mandarins’ percussion session had the opportunity to perform for politicians on Jan. 11 as part of the opening session of the California State Legislature.

Racine Scouts
Racine Scouts patriarch Howard Dahnert, a 2007 inductee to the DCI Hall of Fame, passed away this week at the age of 92. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 30 and funeral services on Monday, Jan. 31 in Racine, Wis.
Santa Clara Vanguard
Fifth-year member Brandn Lindsey and fourth-year member Justin Cunha, have been named drum majors of the 2011 Santa Clara Vanguard.
Teal Sound
Teal Sound’s Michael Lopez recounts his trip this past weekend to Indianapolis for a series of leadership sessions attended by Open and World Class drum majors. The sessions were hosted as part of DCI’s annual winter business meetings.
Troopers
The Troopers are forming a winter color guard ensemble called EXSIGHT. The group will be based out of Cheyenne, Wyo., and made up of students between 14 and 18 years.
