Blue Knights At the Drums Along the Rockies Premier Event on Saturday, July 10 in Denver, seven local high school drum lines will compete against each other in the "Rocky Mountain Throwdown" at 3 p.m. in INVESCO stadium. The reward? Bragging rights and the opportunity to perform for the audience at the evening event. Admission is free. Also on the same day, the Blue Knights Alumni Association is coordinating a "Warm-up zone" tailgate for mingling with alums and family members, which opens at 4 p.m.

Blue Stars On Tuesday, July 13, the Blue Stars percussion section and caption head Tom Aungst will host a free educational clinic starting 9:30 a.m. for students at Carmel (Ind.) High School stadium. The event will feature a session with Aungst and staff, rehearsal with the Blue Stars drum line, and a clinic for students and teachers. The learning event precedes the evening DCI competition, Drums Along the Monon, at 7:30 p.m. in the same venue.

Boston Crusaders Rich Perrier, former Boston Crusaders tenor drummer and drum major, just joined the corps' staff as director of development to focus on operations and resource development. Perrier has served in executive roles in financial service and health care for the past 15 years.

The Cavaliers Sylvester "Sly" Sybilski returns to the Cavaliers as part of the visual instructional team. He was a marching member from 1984-1987, joining the visual staff in 1988. He later instructed during the mid-1990s and was visual caption head from 1997-2006.

Forte Forte is introducing two new fundraisers: July 6, the corps launched its iPad Raffle, with drawings scheduled for the World Championship Open Class Finals on August 14. On July 7, it announced information on how you can recycle used cell phones and ink cartridges to help the corps. Forte also just added a clinic to its schedule in Bossier City, La. after hosting one in Katy, Tx. The clinic will give students the chance to rehearse with their respective sections of the corps and learn skills on leadership, communication, techniques, and more.

Genesis Genesis launched a new raffle fundraiser, its last of the 2010 season. Tickets cost $10, with prizes including $50 and $100 gift cards and a grand prize of two round trip tickets and two nights in Las Vegas. All proceeds go to the Genesis organization to assist the corps on its 2010 summer tour.
