Blue Knights



The Blue Knights are completing the final phase of their 2010 auditions this weekend in Englewood, Colo. "We have been really pleased with the level of talent and the numbers of students auditioning for the corps this year," said director Mark Arnold. Fans are invited to attend a special "show and tell" performance by the corps at the end of the camp on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Blue Stars



Twenty-one-year-old Blue Stars alum Andy Toppin was critically injured during a military police mission in Iraq. He is being treated for severe burns to his arms and face at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany and also has required partial amputation of his right leg. The Blue Stars and Blue Stars Alumni Association are currently collecting donations for the Andy and Ashley Toppin Recovery Fund to help Andy, Ashley and their unborn baby.

The Cadets



The Cadets recently wrapped up their 2010 auditions, coming together in Woodstown, N.J. for their January rehearsal camp. After canceling their December camp due to a winter storm on the East Coast, the corps reports that they didn't miss a beat learning nearly four minutes of their '10 competitive program. "The December cancellation only increased the level of excitement, and those sections pushed through auditions, physical training and physical evaluations," said assistant director Justin Heimbecker.

Glassmen



The Glassmen will present an educational "Entertrainment" brass clinic at the Ohio Music Education Association's Professional Development Conference on Jan. 30 in Cincinnati. The session, titled "Brass Musicianship: Bridging the gap from outdoors to indoors," will feature members of the 2010 Glassmen brass section led by brass coordinator Keith Hallas.

Jersey Surf



Jersey Surf members are back in action this weekend after the corps had to cancel its December rehearsal camp due to an East Coast snow storm. "We're really looking forward to welcoming the New Year and getting back to business," said Jersey Surf Program Coordinator Fred Ford. "… Everyone is looking forward to getting back together and to getting busy as we begin to prepare for the start of the 20th Anniversary season of the Jersey Surf."

Mandarins



The Mandarins 2010 competitive production will be titled "To Dream of Far Away Lands," featuring music by Ravi Shankar, Philip Glass, David Buckley and Samudra Manthan, among others. Check out an iTunes playlist of the music on the corps' Web site.

Raiders



The Raiders completed their second audition and rehearsal camp early in January at Caldwell College in Caldwell, N.J. According to corps management, "Several new members were welcomed to the corps and, once again, all the members surpassed our expectations with the progress they made learning new techniques and the 2010 show."

Vanguard Cadets



The Vanguard Cadets have released details about their 2010 tour schedule and competitive production, "Chakra," which will feature original music by staff composers Key Poulan, Murray Gusseck and Nate Bourg. This summer, due to the later finish of the DCI Tour and an early August start for California high school districts, the corps will complete its season at the DCI Southwestern Championship in San Antonio instead of making the trip to Indianapolis for the World Championships.

The Velvet Knights recently appeared in the Las Vegas Free Press, detailing a performance the corps will make for former President William Clinton, who will be addressing the national convention of the Green Dot Corporation on Feb. 22 at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas.
