Blue Devils

Boston Crusaders
The Boston Crusaders have added Boston University to their list of one-day audition locations scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 8. The corps also has extended the deadline for applications to its music major scholarship program through the weekend of Nov. 12.

The Cadets
Second-year Cadets mellophone player Jenna Alchevsky offers tips and info about drum corps auditions for prospective members on the corps’ website.

Carolina Crown
David Starnes will join Carolina Crown’s design team as a consultant for the 2013 drum corps season. “The opportunity to have David work with the team fits right into the organizations goals of developing excellence in both program design and performance,” Executive Director Jim Coates said.

Cascades
Cascades will host an open house for prospective corps members on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Olympic View Middle School in Mukilteo, Wash.

The Cavaliers
This week the Cavaliers announced the staff members who will make up the corps’ brass and percussion instructional teams. “Across the board, the Cavaliers are taking positive steps forward in the short- and long-term, and we’re excited to help continue strengthening our educational approach and member experience,” Brass Co-Caption Head Joe Musick said.

Colts
Bobby Frey will remain with the Colts in 2013 as head of the corps’ brass caption. “The Colts have put together a wonderful team of designers and educators for the 50th Anniversary. We’re honored to be back with the Red Team!” Frey said.

Colt Cadets
Matt Mulvanny has been named director of the Colts organization’s Open Class Colt Cadets. “I’m not only excited about Matt, but about the entire team of people he is surrounded by,” Colts Director Vicki MacFarlane said. “Matt is the guy to quarterback all the details and people on and off the field, and has the capability of taking Colt Cadets to another level.”

Crossmen
Brad Slusarczyk will join the Crossmen instructional staff in 2013 as visual caption head. “This new caption addition to the Crossmen will bring an increased level of detail and raise our visual performance level going forward,” Program Coordinator Ed Devlin said.

Genesis
Professional percussionist Danny Sanchez will offer an educational clinic in conjunction with Genesis’ “experience camp” taking place Nov. 23-25 in Brownsville, Texas.

Glassmen
The Glassmen have started a massive fundraising campaign, working to raise $300,000 before the end of the year.

Jersey Surf
Jersey Surf this week deployed its 48-foot mobile kitchen trailer to support Superstorm Sandy relief efforts on the East Coast.

Legends
Registration is now open for Legends’ audition camps that will take place Nov. 24-25 and Dec. 14-16 in the Kalamazoo, Mich. area.

Mandarins
Mandarins recently profiled the individuals who will head the corps’ brass, percussion, color guard and visual captions in 2013.

Music City
Music City posted a new recruiting video on YouTube. The corps will host its audition camp Dec. 15-16 at Freedom Middle School in Franklin, Tenn.

Oregon Crusaders
Oregon Crusaders are featured in a new video on YouTube profiling the history of the corps and the drum corps activity in the Pacific Northwest region.

Pacific Crest
Pacific Crest will host two “Experience Camps” coming up at the beginning of December. The corps’ “A Day in the Northeast Drum Camp” will take place Saturday, Dec. 1 at Mechanicsburg High School in Mechanicsburg, Pa. “A Day in the Southwest Brass and Drum Camp” will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2 at Sahuaro High School in Tucson, Ariz.

Pioneer
Pioneer will welcome 90 percent of its instructional staff from last season back in 2013. New arrangers for its brass and percussion sections have been named.

Santa Clara Vanguard
Santa Clara Vanguard posted an updated list of audition dates and locations.

Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets
The Vanguard Cadets announced the title of their 2013 production, “The Art of War – A Soldier’s Story,” along with several staff changes and additions.

Spirit of Atlanta
Spirit of Atlanta is seeking an experienced tour manager for the 2013 season. Ideal applicants will have prior experience with tour management, communicating with school faculty and staff, and working collaboratively with volunteers.

Thunder
Thunder announced its 2013 executive team members who include Executive Director Michael Koch, Program Director Rob Lewis and Artistic Director Eric Parker.
