Blue Stars The Blue Stars are seeking contributions toward their 2010 Annual Campaign. Supporters can make donations online or by mail and based on level can receive special "thank you" gifts.
Bluecoats The Bluecoats' Artistry IN BLUE color guard finished in seventh place last weekend in the Independent A Class at the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. This was the group's second year of competition and its first time as a finalist.
Boston Crusaders The Boston Crusaders' Dr. Omar Carmenates (percussion caption head arranger), Brian Nozny (percussion instructor) and Dr. Thad Anderson (Crusader alum and former instructor) were recently involved with the "Furman Engaged!" celebration at Furman University in Greenville, S.C., specifically with a performance of "Inuksuit," a percussion ensemble piece by John Luther Adams.
The Cadets A bevy of former drum majors from the 1980s to 2000s were surprise presenters on a recent Webinar with current Cadets members. Among them was '05 Cadets major Jim Zulick who told members, "But if I were to tell you anything, it would be to not take any of your time with the corps for granted. Take every moment for what it's worth. The hardest day you have (this summer) will be the most memorable one later on."
Carolina Crown Carolina Crown is hosting its 10th annual CrownCLUB on Saturday, April 24. Free and open to the public, the educational series of events will give attendees an overview of the organization and include several special guests including DCI Hall of Fame member Jay Bocook and longtime DCI broadcaster Steve Rondinaro.
Cascades The Cascades have struck up a partnership with King Ultimate Marching Brass. "We are very pleased about our new partnership with King," said director Sal Leone. "This relationship will assure that the members of the Cascades will perform with quality horns for a long time to come. We are proud to represent King as we travel throughout the Pacific Northwest and the rest of the country."
The Cavaliers The Cavaliers recently revealed the title of their 2010 production "Mad World." Musical selections will include "Mad World" by Roland Orzabal and "Smile" by Charlie Chaplin, among others. A new teaser video can be viewed on the corps' Web site.
Colts Brett Hall, a Colts brass staff member from 1991 to 2002, passed away this week following a long illness. Hall began his drum corps career as a member of the Sky Ryders before pursuing a successful career as a band director in Iowa.
Crossmen The Crossmen are seeking members to join Club Unity, its annual donor membership and recognition program. Club Unity contributions "directly help offset the costs associated with travel, instruction, nutrition, and care of all current and future members of the Crossmen."
Madison Scouts The Madison scouts are in need of some additional food and merchandise services volunteers for the summer of 2010. Posted on the corps' Web site: "No specific skills are required, but you need to bring a positive attitude and strong work ethic. The work is hard, but very rewarding as you help nourish 150 young men each and every day."
Mystikal Mystyikal's board of directors have added three new programs to the organization. Diamante Independent World Class Color Guard, Diamante Independent 'A' Color Guard and Riverside Independent Percussion, "will help strengthen the organization by offering performing opportunities during the drum corps' off season." Oregon Crusaders The Oregon Crusaders will be holding a can and bottle drive fundraiser this Saturday, April 17 in Tigard, Ore.
Pacific Crest Like many corps organizations, member tuition fees do not cover the full cost of what it takes to put a corps down the road each summer. Pacific Crest is currently seeking contributions toward a goal of $50,000 for its 2010 Tour Fund. Posted on the corps' Web site: "By making a gift to the 2010 Tour Fund, you can make a real difference by helping keep tuition as low as possible and ensuring the best experience possible for our amazing members."
Santa Clara Vanguard Santa Clara Vanguard's Winter Guard members were silver medalists last weekend at the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. Finishing with a score of 97.5, the group won both the semifinal and quarterfinal rounds of competition. "This was an unbelievable season and the members improved their performance each night during the championship week," said lead program designer Jon Vanderkolff.
