Boston Crusaders The Boston Crusaders' Dr. Omar Carmenates (percussion caption head arranger), Brian Nozny (percussion instructor) and Dr. Thad Anderson (Crusader alum and former instructor) were recently involved with the "Furman Engaged!" celebration at Furman University in Greenville, S.C., specifically with a performance of "Inuksuit," a percussion ensemble piece by John Luther Adams. The Cadets A bevy of former drum majors from the 1980s to 2000s were surprise presenters on a recent Webinar with current Cadets members. Among them was '05 Cadets major Jim Zulick who told members, "But if I were to tell you anything, it would be to not take any of your time with the corps for granted. Carolina Crown Carolina Crown is hosting its 10th annual CrownCLUB on Saturday, April 24. Free and open to the public, the educational series of events will give attendees an overview of the organization and include several special guests including DCI Hall of Fame member Jay Bocook and longtime DCI broadcaster Steve Rondinaro. Cascades The Cascades have struck up a partnership with King Ultimate Marching Brass. "We are very pleased about our new partnership with King," said director Sal Leone. Colts Brett Hall, a Colts brass staff member from 1991 to 2002, passed away this week following a long illness. Hall began his drum corps career as a member of the Sky Ryders before pursuing a successful career as a band director in Iowa. Colts.org
Crossmen The Crossmen are seeking members to join Club Unity, its annual donor membership and recognition program. Club Unity contributions "directly help offset the costs associated with travel, instruction, nutrition, and care of all current and future members of the Crossmen." Crossmen.org
Madison Scouts The Madison scouts are in need of some additional food and merchandise services volunteers for the summer of 2010. Santa Clara Vanguard Santa Clara Vanguard's Winter Guard members were silver medalists last weekend at the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. Finishing with a score of 97.5, the group won both the semifinal and quarterfinal rounds of competition.
