The Academy

World-renowned percussionist Gregg Bissonette will be a special guest artist at the Academy's 2009 theater production "CenterStage. " Taking place at the Tempe Center of the Arts on June 5 and 6, the event will feature music from the corps' 2009 production, special musical arrangements and other choreographed works.

Boston Crusaders



The Boston Crusaders will give a sneak-peek performance of their 2009 production at on Saturday, May 9 in Lithia, Fla. Tickets to the event can be ordered in advance and include admission to the performance in addition to dinner with the corps.


The Cadets



The Cadets rehearsed last weekend in Woodstown, N.J. Corps members learned the first 14 drill sets of their 2009 visual program in addition to the final pieces of music that will be a part of their Leonard Bernstein-inspired production. "We had a packed weekend schedule," said assistant director Justin Heimbecker. "And just like Cadets and their support team always do, they tackle it all until the job is done!"


The Cavaliers

The Cavaliers are inviting family, friends, alums and fans out to DeKalb, Ill., on Saturday, May 30 for the corps' "2009 Pre-Season BBQ." Tickets to the event will include a barbeque-style dinner and a chance to watch a sneak-peak performance of the Cavaliers' 2009 production, "The Great Divide."



Mystikal



Mystikal recently wrapped up a successful rehearsal camp in Rio Grande Valley, Texas, where brass and percussion section members met together for the first time this season. "I think what we have accomplished in the past four months as a group is amazing," said corps director Chris Magonigal. "We had three total members in January when we started, and we will continue to step it up to take Mystikal to the next level.




Phantom Regiment

Jim Wren, former principal brass arranger for Phantom Regiment for more than 30 years, was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Rockford (Ill.) Area Music Industry (RAMI) on Thursday, April 30. Established in 1990, RAMI has honored musical talent in northern Illinois since 1991. The RAMI Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contribution to Rockford's musical heritage.




Spirit

Spirit will hold its annual picnic for family, friends and alumni of the corps on Sunday, May 24, at 1 p.m. in Jacksonville, Ala. As honored guests, attendees will be treated to a complimentary barbeque meal and have a chance to check out the latest 2009 Spirit souvenirs.




Teal Sound

Teal Sound recently completed its April rehearsal camp where corps members learned the first part of the visual program to their 2009 production, "The Velvet Rope." The group also had a chance to meet with several special guests including DCI Hall of Fame members David Kampshroer and Bill Howard.
