Bluecoats The Bluecoats are gearing up to celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2012. Among the initiatives the corps is undertaking to mark the milestone is the "I Am a Bluecoat" campaign, which looks to reconnect 40 years of Bluecoats members.

The Cadets The Cadets' parent organization Youth Education in the Arts welcomed Brad Martin as its new director of donor and alumni relations. "Over the years, I have continued to be a drum corps and marching band fan and have always followed the Cadets," Martin said. Jersey Surf Jersey Surf will sponsor the Tournament of Bands New Jersey State Marching Band Championships on Saturday, Oct. 20. Pioneer Pioneer mourns the loss of Judy Schmidt, a longtime support staff member with the corps. "This loss is significant," the corps posted on its website. "Judy worked at our bingo games, cooked for the corps, ran fun drives, and most recently was a steady hand in the uniform department. It is not difficult to remember her and her sewing machine in the hall with her dog sitting beside her as she made alterations and repairs and looking for the next person who needed help with their uniform."

Racine Scouts Racine Scouts will host its educational "Brass-tacular Clinic" on Saturday, Feb. 25, in Greendale, Wis. The event is free and open to all high school and college brass players and will be led by Clay Wachholz, the director of bands at Cedarburg High School. Velvet Knights The Velvet Knights announced that their 2012 production, "Moving Forward," will feature "Short Ride in a Fast Machine" by John Adams, "Road to Chicago" by Thomas Newman, and "1,000 Airplanes on the Roof" by Philip Glass. "VK fans and supporters can expect to see a VK that is moving forward with the times and new changes in a great direction," show designers Randy Badillo and Kevin Bell said.
