The Academy The Academy is still recruiting trumpet and mellphone players to join its horn line for the summer of 2012. The corps' next rehearsal camp is March 2-4 in Arizona.
Bluecoats The Bluecoats are gearing up to celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2012. Among the initiatives the corps is undertaking to mark the milestone is the "I Am a Bluecoat" campaign, which looks to reconnect 40 years of Bluecoats members.
The Cadets The Cadets' parent organization Youth Education in the Arts welcomed Brad Martin as its new director of donor and alumni relations. "Over the years, I have continued to be a drum corps and marching band fan and have always followed the Cadets," Martin said. "To become part of YEA! and help support the young people in all of our programs is an exciting and challenging new opportunity for me."

Colt Cadets The Colt Cadets will get their 2012 season underway during an open house rehearsal at Jefferson Middle School in Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday, Feb. 19. All interested performers are invited to attend this educational session.
Crossmen Mark your calendar now for the Crossmen eXperience Day 2012 on June 15, at the Blossom Athletic Center in San Antonio, Texas. The $40 fee for this educational event will give middle school and high school students the opportunity to spend the day learning from and performing with the Crossmen.
Jersey Surf Jersey Surf will sponsor the Tournament of Bands New Jersey State Marching Band Championships on Saturday, Oct. 20. "Although we're currently gearing up for the start of our summer season, we are already looking forward to creating an exceptional experience for everyone involved in this celebration of excellence of New Jersey's many great marching bands when we come together in October, and to the ongoing development of opportunities between the Tournament of Bands and the Jersey Surf organization," Executive Director Bob Jacobs said.
Legends The Legends Indoor Ensemble will perform as an opening act for "Blast!" when the drum corps-inspired stage production comes to Kalamazoo, Mich., on Thursday, Feb. 23. Five dollars of every ticket purchased through, will be donated back to the Legends Performing Arts Association.
Oregon Crusaders Oregon Crusaders co-founder Ron Jones was nominated for a Grammy Award for his work on the popular television cartoon series "Family Guy." Ron and his brother David founded the group in 1971.
Pacific Crest After forging a partnership with KHS America, Pacific Crest announced that it will perform exclusively with Jupiter Quantum Marching Brass, Majestic Field Percussion and Mapex Quantum Marching Drums during its 2012 summer tour.
Phantom Regiment Phantom Regiment released its annual "summer of" T-shirt, which is now on sale in the corps' online store.
Pioneer Pioneer mourns the loss of Judy Schmidt, a longtime support staff member with the corps. "This loss is significant," the corps posted on its website. "Judy worked at our bingo games, cooked for the corps, ran fun drives, and most recently was a steady hand in the uniform department. It is not difficult to remember her and her sewing machine in the hall with her dog sitting beside her as she made alterations and repairs and looking for the next person who needed help with their uniform."
Racine Scouts Racine Scouts will host its educational "Brass-tacular Clinic" on Saturday, Feb. 25, in Greendale, Wis. The event is free and open to all high school and college brass players and will be led by Clay Wachholz, the director of bands at Cedarburg High School. Online registration for those attending is requested by Feb. 20.
Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets The Vanguard Cadets are seeking two trumpet and two baritone players to fill open positions in the corps' horn line for the 2012 season.
Spirit of Atlanta The Delta Brass quintet will host a recital on Sunday, Feb. 19, at Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Ga. This will be the first public performance for this group that is primarily made up of former Spirit of Atlanta members.
Spirit of Newark/New Jersey Spirit of Newark/New Jersey will rehearse from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Rutgers University "Yes" Center in Newark. All are welcome to attend this first rehearsal of the season. Participation in the corps' 2012 tour will cost $500.
Velvet Knights The Velvet Knights announced that their 2012 production, "Moving Forward," will feature "Short Ride in a Fast Machine" by John Adams, "Road to Chicago" by Thomas Newman, and "1,000 Airplanes on the Roof" by Philip Glass. "VK fans and supporters can expect to see a VK that is moving forward with the times and new changes in a great direction," show designers Randy Badillo and Kevin Bell said. "Even the corps' famous Converse [sneakers] are getting a cool update."
