 The 2011 edition of the Academy’s annual indoor theater event, CenterStage, will feature members of the Boston Brass as guest performers. Three performances are scheduled for June 10-11 in Tempe, Ariz.

Blue Devils B & C

Blue Devils B & C

Both the Blue Devils B & C are gearing up for next season. Blue Devils C’s informational meeting will take place on Thursday, Oct. 28, and the first Blue Devils B workshop of the season for brass, percussion and color guard will take place on Dec. 11 in Concord, Calif.

Blue Knights are featuring a new recruitment video on its website. Auditions for the corps will take place in Texas and Denver in November.

Cascades

Cascades

The Cascades will be offering free transportation to its December, January and February rehearsal camps in Yakima, Wash. Four routes are planned to bring in members from all over the Northwest.

 The Cavaliers’ design team will be meeting this Sunday in Indianapolis to continue preparations for the 2011 summer season. “After an incredible year with ‘Mad World,’ we’re excited to keep the momentum racing forward with the return of our entire design team,” said program coordinator Scott Koter.

Ray Vasquez will head back to the Colts this season to serve as brass caption head. “Ray is a tremendous teacher and a valuable colleague,” said program coordinator Chris Tomsa. “He possesses enthusiasm, a contagious love of teaching and a great deal of experience, and we are thrilled to have him with us again.”

Crossmen announced its 2011 percussion leadership team, which will include Rudy Gowern (caption head), Paul Loos (battery coordinator) and Nathan Ratliff (front ensemble coordinator).

Legends recently announced that it will start up a winter percussion ensemble. “This program has been something that we’ve discussed over the past couple of years and 2011 was the right time to launch this great new performance opportunity in the Kalamazoo, Mich. area,” said executive director Ibe Sodawalla.

Madison Scouts

DCI Hall of Fame member Robert W. Smith will serve as brass arranger for the 2011 Madison Scouts. “Robert brings a special combination of arranging and composition skills that fit perfectly with our plans for the 2011 Madison Scouts,” said artistic director James Mason. “I’m excited to see him participate on our creative team.”

Adam Hill will return to Pioneer in 2011 to serve as percussion caption head and arranger. Kris Hammond will join the corps as brass caption head.

Revolution announced a number of new and returning staff members to its brass and color guard sections.

Spirit of Atlanta

Spirit of Atlanta

After last weekend’s 2011 season kickoff party, the Spirit board of directors and staff announced that the corps will return to its original name, Spirit of Atlanta. “Moving back to Atlanta last year was such a thrill for our members, alumni and fans,” said executive director Joel Vincent. “Now our name makes it clear, we are home!”

Troopers announced its design team for the 2011 season. “This team, with the addition of William Chumley, has been hard at work since the end of the 2010 season and have put together some very interesting show concepts which we are exploring. We look forward to another very successful, exciting and rewarding experience for our members,” said director Fred Morris.

 The Velvet Knights will host two free educational brass and percussion clinics (Nov. 21 and Dec. 5) to help prospective members better prepare for their 2011 auditions.
