This August, several hundred band students from across Indiana will come together to form the country's largest middle school ensemble. The INpact Indiana's Future—Band is focused on showing students that it is important to stay involved in a musical activity throughout life, and how it can help them become successful.

With support from LDI, Ltd's 100th Anniversary Celebration Cultural Partnership Gift Program, the students involved in this new project will have many new and exciting experiences. Drum Corps International was one of 15 arts and cultural organizations throughout Indianapolis to receive this special cultural project grant in 2012.

On Friday, Aug. 10 and Saturday, Aug. 11, students participating in this newly organized activity will visit many iconic sites throughout downtown Indianapolis as part of the experience. Performance opportunities will include the Celebrate Indy Arts! Parade on Saturday morning as well as at the DCI World Championship Finals.

Kicking off the Finals Night festivities, the INpact students will perform an arrangement at the start of the show of the new single "Live for Music" with former American Idol Contestant Shaun (Barrowes) Canon.

As a former member of his high school marching band, Canon has long been a big advocate for music education through his national Live For Music Tour. The new video, which features footage from the DCI World Championships, was released on May 19 and already has more than 100,000 views on YouTube.
