Crusaders heat up in Texas

by Drum Corps International

From a Boston Crusaders' press release: The Boston Crusaders were sizzling this past week -- deep in the heart of Texas. The corps turned up the heat on the competition as they traveled south into and through Texas, with shows in Leander, Houston, San Antonio and Wichita Falls. The Crusaders now are working their way toward Murfreesboro, Tenn., for the Masters of the SUMMER MUSIC GAMES competition on July 25, 2003.

The Boston Crusaders perform in San Antonio last weekend.
Preparing for the Texas trip, Crusaders' program director Howard Weinstein gave a status report. "The kids are happy and healthy, and all are very excited about the upcoming competition. Things are going well." Weinstein's comments came on the eve of the DCI Southwest Regional Championship in San Antonio as the corps were preparing in the 100-plus degree Texas heat. "We are working on our communication with the audience. The corps is comfortable with the product, now we are working on increasing our identity with the audience," adds Weinstein. "Our goal is to improve each and every day, in practice and on the field. We're hoping that our effort will show."
