April 23-29 marks National Volunteer Week. Drum Corps International would like to recognize the many volunteers who spend countless hours 365 days a year to make it possible for drum corps to continue to run and to prosper. From cooks, to sewers, to drivers, bookkeepers and instructional staff, volunteers keep every corps going from fall audition camps to the DCI World Championships in August and beyond. Have you thanked the volunteers in your life lately? Take this week as an opportunity to call, e-mail or visit those special volunteers and let them know how much they mean to you. This week, DCI.org will take a look at just a few of the thousands of volunteers in drum corps and what they do for the various corps they work with. This will lead up to Thursday, April 27, when the 2006 Drum Corps International Volunteers of the Year are named. Do you have a story about a special volunteer while you were a member of a drum corps? Tell us about it at feedback@dci.org.
